JTV lately.

So, I've been noticing a lot of people complaining about justin.tv's new advertisment layouts. Honestly, I checked out my channel page (for the first time in a long time because I use mIRC to read my chat) and to me nothing is excessive. All of these ads can easily be avoided if you do not want to encounter other websites.

Just please take a look around. Ustream, Stickam, YouTube, and all these other successful broadcasting websites have advertisments. It shouldn't be that much of a big deal to us.

If you do happen to see any flaws or bugs when trying to get around the site, please do not complain or harass the closest justin.tv staff member you have access to. There is a "Report A Bug" button on the bottom of every page that does this for you in a more professional manner.

Well, I'm going to go and buy supplies for my Oreo truffles. Hope to see y'all around!

Starbucks...let's learn to customize!

Alright, well, I've been getting requests about what my favorite drinks are at work. I finally actually sat down to write them out! Hopefully yall can try them sometime or at least start to mess around with your favorite drinks so they taste just right!

~Venti iced green tea lemonade, 2 splenda. I fill the green tea halfway past the 1st line (to have more tea) and then the rest of that section with lemonade. I love my tea.
~Soy orange mango Vivanno with 4 scoops matcha, 1/2 a banana (2 scoops protein for me because it can get to be too much). This is a great breakfast energizer.
~Tall americano, 2 splendas and cream. This is good for mornings or cool evenings.
~Grande soy white hot chocolate, 1 pump Gingerbread (if available), no whip. Oh yum. This is delicious and oh-so-sweet.
~Solo tall salted caramel signature hot chocolate. Yeah, I guess that one was kind of simple except for the shot of espresso.
~Tall green tea cream frappuccino, 4 scoops matcha, 1 pump melon, double blended. The melon can get to be too sweet if you put too many and I love matcha. It may seem intense but this drink is sweet enough.
~Baby WM. Yum... Okay, well, don't go to the counter and order it as a "Baby WM" but this is how to order it. One pump white mocha, one shot of espresso, small dollop of whipped cream (just enough to cover espresso). When I get it, I swirl the espresso around until half the whipped cream is melted and I drink it that way. This makes the whipped cream milky and creamy and also mixes the white mocha into the drink.
~I also like teas. My favorites are Calm, Zen, Green Ginger, Joy, African Red Bush and Organic Chai.

Well, those are my favorite drinks! I'll try and post more when I make them!

Banananananana. Wait...I think that was too many.

New-Fashioned Banana Pudding
Serves 8-10 people

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 1 (5.1 oz) package vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 1 (12 oz) package vanilla wafers
  • 6 large ripe bananas (alot of times you can get them discount for older bananas, depending on the season and availability. those work really good.)
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla or banana extract
  1. Combine milk and half-and-half in a large bowl; add pudding mix, and beat at a low speed of an electric beater until blended. Beat at medium speed 2 minutes or until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Arrange one-third of vanilla wafers in the bottom of a 3-quart baking dish. Slice 2 bananas; layer slices over wafers. Pour one-third of pudding mixture over bananas. Repeat layers twice, arranging wafers around edge of dish.
  3. Beat egg whites at high speed of an electric beater until foamy. Add 1/3 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form and sugar dissolves (2 to 4 minutes). Fold in vanilla; spread meringue over pudding, sealing to edge of dish.
  4. Bake at 325 degrees F for 25 minutes or until golden.
I've found the easiest way to separate eggs is to use your hands. Break the egg into a bowl and grab the yolk with curved open fingers and transfer it from each hand to the other, kind of like how you play with putty. This will separate the yolk from the egg whites easily and then all you have to do is throw away the yolk or keep it to make something else.

The meringue can be hard to make too. You have to add the sugar a little at a time or it won't mix correctly and will be too runny. Also, DON'T FORGET THE VANILLA EXTRACT!! I did that one time and it tasted bland. Blech.

Well, thats my banana pudding. Hopefully you were around to watch me make it live!

Easy Oreo Truffles

In my opinion, these are better than Classic Chocolate Truffles. I'll put those up later.

Easy Crowd Pleasers (Kid Friendly)

Ingredients
  • 1 package (1 lb. 2 oz.) Oreos - finely crushed
  • 1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese
  1. Combine softened cream cheese and Oreos until well blended in a large bowl. I used my hands. Note: you can either wear yellow gloves or use bare hands. The Oreos can get a bit prickly after a while.
  2. Refrigerate until firm, about 30min-1hr.
  3. Roll into 1-inch balls
  4. Coat to your liking.
You can use powdered suger, sugar sprinkles, coconut, melted chocolate, crushed nuts, more crushed Oreos, or anything to coat your truffles! They taste great right afterward or you can harden them again in the refrigerator. They stay good for about 2 weeks in the refrigerator. Enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello! I'm out on our property right now. No internet connection, no Starbucks, not even a phone charger! (oops...heh.)

I just wanted to say hi and Happy Thanksgiving while I was out here. It's a much more interesting event writing a blog out here even though I cannot post it yet.

I had an awesome time out here. We got here and forgot our keys to our cabin so we had to go searching the other houses to see if anyone else kept a key. Luckily, and obviously, they did. When we got inside it was freezing! Staying out of a cabin/mobile home for so long keeps all the odd air inside. We had snake tails on sticky traps and dead wasps everywhere. Thats the country for you. Plus acorns. Tons of them. In pantries, on mattresses, in air vents, in shoes. The hollowed out acorns never fail us everytime we stop by here.

Finally around noontime, our big lunch hit. We gathered ourselves and walked down our dirt road to my grandpa's house where all our family brought the most awesome food in the world. Sadly, my grandpa didn't make the jalepeno turkey again this year. We had some good honey ham though. Let me see...turkey, 2 things of dressing, cranberry sauce out of a can, little dill pickles, corn on the cob, veggie tray, cauliflower casserole, green bean salad, something with peas, rolls, peanut butter fudge, banana cookies, chocolate covered nuts, and pumpkin pie. Ooh and plenty of flavored Kool-Aid and well water. Yum.

We're not huge on the "preparing for 2 nights" sort of thing but all that food was awesome.

I got to see my family too, which was pretty cool. It's one thing hearing about how everyone's doing but its another to actually see how much they've changed since the last time you've seen them. My cousin's 13! He's actually cleaned himself up and started acting like a human instead of some crazy child! My little cousins are still pretty much the same. They're making guns out of window panes and throwing cats off the porch (we have tons of cats out here).

But really the biggest thing I wanted to say is happy thanksgiving. Like I said, I thank God for sending the Pilgrims over here for some heavy feasting. Feasting's an awesome concept and I wish I could shake hands with whoever invented it. I'd also like to thank everyone who's stuck with me through the hyper times, the sick times, the depressive-like times, and even the I-think-she's-ignoring-us times. I couldn't and probably wouldn't have gotten this far if it weren't for the awesome support and fans I have. (Also a big shout-out to my assistant, Bobby. Seriously, I probably would be in shambles [failing classes, still working in the awful office] if it weren't for him.) Also a big thanks for justin.tv. The site has changed so much from when I started last October. It's gained so much publicity and just because of all the updates and community events, small people like me can quickly gain a social network!

So, a big "We're no strangers to love..." to all of y'all. I love every one of you and hope that everyone has a great holiday season. Keep in touch!

Store Holiday Meeting 2008

This year's meeting was pretty fun. I've always loved Starbucks store meetings because its really the only way I we can see everyone at once.

Well, anyway, we're getting tons of new merchandise. First of all, there's the Comfort and Joy Trio. It's perfect for any coffee lover in your family. It comes with samples of Starbucks House Blend, Caffe Verona, and Breakfast Blend, with an ideal food pairing for each.

There's also the Tazo Sampler, an awesome idea for any tea connoisseur. It's a nice reusable bamboo box which comes with 6 Tazo Teas.

We've also got our Starbucks chocolates again. We've got the Coffee and Truffles pack and we've also go the Advent calendar, an awesome idea for the children, or any chocolate loving person!

Our biggest thing we're selling now is the Sirena Espresso Machine. It's one of the best quality espresso machines, and it was made by BMW. You get awesome additions if you buy one too. You'll get a free burr grinder and either a free pound of coffee, box of 12 espresso pods, or a box of 6 filter packs. That's an awesome deal.

I think my favorite thing that wasn't mentioned in our Holiday guide that we're selling is the French press set. It's a gift set with a French press, coffee, and a 4 minute sand timer, perfect to enjoy whenever! Plus, its cheaper than buying most french presses alone! I'm thinking about getting one for myself....

Remember to buy your Thanksgiving blend while you can. We'll be selling it until Thanksgiving day and then it's gone! Even if you don't drink coffee, get it for your family. It is an awesome pairing with a Thanksgiving dinner. We tried it from a french press at the store meeting with some homemade stuffing and oh...my....gosh. It was perfect. It's also great tasting with our pumpkin or zucchini loaf that we sell at Starbucks. I really recommend at least trying it.

I'm excited about the Christmas season. I love all the colors and fast-paced coffee making! Can't wait to see y'all in the stores!

Rain

It stormed pretty crazy today but I did not get into an accident! *Cheers* I saw a couple of them on my way home, like t-bone accidents at intersections, but I was not involved in any way. It's a lot for me to not be a participant in an accident.

I found my old Christmas plush toys today. Someone in retrogirl73's channel was talking about the Coca Cola polar bear and I remembered I got one for my birthday back in 4th grade. I still love holding that thing. I also remembered a TV special I used to watch back in the day, Snowden. No one I talk to remembers or saw that show! I loved it so much. I mean, heck, I'm a huge Christmas person and I used to want to be an ice skater a lot when I was younger. That catered to both. I was so disappointed when it stopped playing.

I finally went up to the bowling alley today. It's been so long. I didn't get to bowl, of course, due to my injured ankle, but I missed the loud, smoky environment. It was good to be back and see all my old friends.

Well, I should probably clean my bed off so I can go to sleep. I have to do tips at work and train the new guys from 3pm-8pm tomorrow then we're having a store meeting from 8pm-10pm at a pizza place. I think tomorrow's going to be a good day. I just hope its better than early this morning when I was all over the store on a throbbing ankle.

Ibuprofen has become my friend in the last couple weeks.

doot-doot-doot DOOO! Hyundai!!

Work in 7 hours and 13 minutes. I'd better do this fast.

I decided I don't blog as much anymore, mainly because I was lazy. I went through my older blogs, back when I used to blog almost every night and cracked up at my odd humor. I know, I know. I laughed at my own jokes but you gotta say, they were at least humorous tries.

Alexis made it big! She was discovered via. JTV and is going to be a featured host for a New Zealander website. I'm happy she and I got to converse a bit over a very Batman-ish evening. She's a sweet and adorable girl and I'm happy for her.

7 hours 5 minutes till work.

Yesterday I spent about half my paycheck at the mall on Christmas gifts and stuff for myself. I'm excited for this holiday. I'll be at Starbucks celebrating, finally. I've been waiting all year for it. Why did I have to start working there in January?? Blasted!!

We get Product (RED) aprons this year. I can't wait. Proceeds from our 3 top drinks (Eggnog Latte, Gingersnap Latte, and Peppermint Mocha Twist) will go to save lives in Africa. It's going to be awesome. We also started up selling the long-awaited Starbucks Gold cards. These things are genius. You get 10% off all purchases (excluding newspapers) for as long as you have the card. Plus you get surprise benefits all year long, including free drinks on your birthday. It's a $25 annual fee but seriously, it will soon pay for itself. We sold out of them in our district so you better find one fast!

Well, I've found I have nothing else to say. I've got 6 hours and 58 minutes till work starts anyway. I should probably get some rest. Goodnight all.

Snickadoodas via. Janea

I've been getting tons of requests for me to share my Snickerdoodle recipe. Well, here you go!!

Snickadoodas
Bake: 10 minutes + plus, eh... a minute for luck
Yield: about 25 cookies

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened (I use a huge tub of Country Crock. It's the best tasting, in my opinion, than those butter stick things)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tarter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
1. Heat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Mix 1/4 cup sugar and the cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.
3. Mix 1 1/2 cups sugar, shortening, butter and eggs in a large bowl with a large spoon. I've never actually tried to do this with an electric mixer before. I mean, it could work, but I'd rather use my hands.
4. Plop in flour, cream of tarter, baking soda and salt on top of the mixture and then mix it all together. I tried mixing them into the mixture but the dough ended up being waaay too sticky in the end. Adding everything and then mixing them makes it easier to shape them without having to wash your hands every 5 minutes.
5. Shape dough into 1 1/4-inch or so balls. Roll in the sugar-cinnamon mixture you set aside before. Place about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Unless you have an enormous oven and huge cookie sheets, you'll have to use 2 cookie sheets. Bake about 10 minutes on the middle rack. Don't put both cookie sheets in at the same time or you'll get burnt or under-cooked cookies. Who wants that?
6. Once the 10 minutes is up, open the oven to see if they're golden-ish. If they're still puffy and yellow-ish, bake for 1 more minute. If not, take them out and place the cookie sheet on a cooling rack before actually taking the cookies off.
7. While those are cooling on the cookie sheet-cooling rack, put the other cookie sheet in for another 10 minutes.
8. Wait a couple minutes then take a spatula to the cookies and place them directly onto the cooling rack to cool. This makes it so that the cookies don't fall apart right out of the oven. The sugar-cinnamon on top hardens the outside of the cookies and it makes it easier to take off the cookie sheets.
9. Let cookies cool for about 20 minutes or so before you eat them. Or just eat them whenever you feel they're cool enough. They're awesome warm. Enjoy! Let me know what you think when you make them! They're awesome this time of year.

Happy November

Well, it's officially the holiday season. I'm excited about this winter. I've started singing Christmas carols all the time now. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I can't wait. So many things are happening! I love this time of year!

My one year anniversary was October 25th. It really wasn't terrible. I mean, yes, I had a fever Friday and Saturday but I got to spend the whole day at home and rest. It was good quality time at home and I got the rest I needed to come back Monday. While sick, I was still able to do this.

Work's becoming more and more awesome. Our new beverage lineup starts Tuesday. We're starting a Gingersnap Latte, bringing back our Eggnog Latte, and promoting our Peppermint Mocha with chocolate curls and peppermint whip on top. It's going to be awesome. Plus, November 27th is the start of our Product (Red) promotion. We're going to raise more money that goes toward African charities by selling (Red) products. We even get red aprons!

I'm going to be training 3 people at a time in about 2 weeks. I literally mean 3 people at a time too. It's going to be like a mini class. Not just training one person one day and another person another day. This is going to be tough for me since I'm used to only having one at a time, but I think I can do it. It will be fun. We need the people.

School's almost done too. I think I've got about a month to go. I've got a test coming up today in my business class, which I did do some studying, and a paper due Wednesday for my Psychology class, which is real simple.

Oh we had a Wootoff about a week and a half ago. It was fun but tiring. I got to host the night after the WootOff, too. It was my first time hosting a Woot night item change. It was a different crowd than I'm used to but it was actually really fun. I love WootTV and everyone affliated.

Well, I should get some sleep before my test tomorrow. I've also got to close at work again so I should get some rest anyway.

Starrrrbucks

Finally got more hours this week. It's probably not very good that forgot I had a class tomorrow and told my manager I can work open to 12:45pm tomorrow. Ah well. All for the sake of teh cashes.

Finally changed up my storefront. Looks for "fallish", like my channel.

Oh! Oh! I got the mousepad in the mail and it looks AWESOME! It is so much better than my old flimsy one.

Digsby has become a big part in keeping up with emails, instant messages and social networks. It's kind of like a chat client that sends notifications you're needing. I noticed it does get a bit slow sometimes and other times it doesn't delete or update when you try to. It is pretty convenient though, at least for keeping up with chat clients.

My one year of lifecasting is coming up! I'm excited and I have no idea what I'm going to do for it. Maybe I'll go back to the basics and just sit there and stare at the chatroom trying to figure out what is going on. Ahhh. Brings back memories.

Alright, its time to dance.

1 Winner, 2 Videos, and 3 New Baristas.

First off, congratulations to littleboo from justin.tv for winning the Mousepad Contest! It's an awesome design and I can't wait to use it. Also, a big thanks for everyone else who submitted a design. I wish I could get one of each!!

I'm going to skip to the third subject real quick. At work, I'm training 2 new baristas, soon to be 3 once I finish with one of these. It's quite a work out and sometimes I forget to give both of us breaks. I talk quite a lot during the training so I also tend to lose breath/my voice.

So, onto the videos. I asked Dennis, jokingly, to sing a song to me and he actually did it! Just watch.

"You Know How I Know You Don't Blog Enough?"

They changed the Blogger Dashboard and you had no idea.

Hah. Yeah, I should do this more often. It gives me a more sense of completeness when I finish one.

But anyway, work's going awesome at the moment. We had the busiest day I've worked on Saturday. The scare with Hurricane Ike hit everyone so they decided they didn't want to be at home if the tropical storm hit them. They'd rather be stuck at Starbucks drinking coffee. I mean, who wouldn't? It's a tiny cafe that would probably lose electricity and water, but it's coffee! People would eat the beans if they had to!

Oh! Speaking of Starbucks, fall is hitting. I'm in love with the cold weather and I'm so happy I can start drinking my Americanos again without drinking 2 sips and starting to sweat like a pig!

Trans-Siberian Orchestra tickets are back in sale! They're coming to Dallas on January 3rd. I'm hoping I can buy the tickets this year. I even got a little ahead of myself and took the day off from work. I love the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I know some people that don't so I'll state the reasons I love them so much.

  1. I love Christmas
  2. I love rock music
  3. I love people that sing Christmas songs
  4. Their TV specials are so intriguing
  5. Santa Claus isn't some huge red figure in their shows. The music and lyrics are more important.
  6. I've always wanted to play the cello in a concert
So as you can see, the reasons stand firm. I will go to a concert before I die. I will go to at least 2.

Blogging from School

Hey everyone. I'm just blogging from school in my Intro to Business class. We're meeting in the library for our yearly computer research class. These things are...informative.

My fruit and vegetable diet is going okay. I've cheated so much, but I've lost a little weight.

Oh lord. Why am I blogging? I have nothing to say.

OLC

I am now an official Starbucks Learning Coach! I took the class yesterday and it really wasn't bad at all. We pretty much learned how to connect and deal with the different learning styles. So basically now I'll be coaching and training new baristas. I'm one step closer to becoming a shift supervisor!

If you haven't done so already, make an entry for the JaneTV Mousepad Project! I'm in DIRE need of a new mousepad (well, not DIRE, but pretty close). Mine is the default blue Dell pad and its bent up and extremely thin. I'm having a contest for anyone to design me a new one. The only thing you have to do is submit a picture to my email! I'll take care of the rest! If I like the design, I will create one and use it in my show! Plus... if you win, you'll get a copy sent to you as well! Designs can be anything! They can have to do with a movie, be abstract, have to do with me, anything! Submit today to jane.ds.tv@gmail.com.

Oh and I'm creating new merchandise for my store as much as I can! Check it often and you might see something you might like.

Responses

Here's some responses to some of the questions I've been getting lately in my chatroom.

"What is your name?" Seriously? I mean, really. Are you serious?

[watching me eat] "You're gonna get fat. Stop eating." You're watching a lifecaster eat one of 3 meals that are usually taken during the day. If its my guess, you're probably eating too.

"You're bored." No, you're watching me do what I do everyday. Sometimes, yes, I do sit at my computer. Just because you're bored and sitting at your computer desk doesn't mean I am.

"You're room is messy." Yes, yes it is.

"STOP BEING MEAN." Then stop yelling. It's rude.

"Take off your shirt." Oh? Risk violating terms of service and getting myself banned from this site just so I can get more viewers? I've been on this site for 9 months without doing so. Sounds like a great idea.

Rox0rz Summer 2008

Tuesday I got me a new haircut. At first when my hairstylist cut it, she blow-dried it and I almost started crying. It looked like she cut my hair into a mullet. It scared me half to death. It didn't end up staying that way, though. She straightened it and put some gel stuff in it and this was the finished project.

Not bad. Not bad at all. I actually really like it now.

I've found a site that I really like. It's called TwitPic. I can send pictures from my phone straight to Twitter. TwitPic will give the picture a URL and post the link as an update. I've sent many pictures there. You should check them out.

I've uploaded more videos to my YouTube. My vlogs are becoming more and more awesome. Check them out!

I'm trying to raise money for a memory card for my new phone. It's the Sony Ericsson Walkman w580. It's really nice but it has a mere 32 mb of internal memory. It holds about 5 pictures and 2 videos at a time. So, if you want to donate to the cause, please do! Once I get it, I'll start using my phone to record myself at times you normally wouldn't see me (aka. work, out with friends, outside) and then upload it to YouTube.

I've decided to start something. It's called Rox0rz Summer 2008. I am looking to have the best summer I have ever had in the history of...me. My past summers only consisted of sitting around and watching TV. What I need is a summer I can brag about. One that I will remember for the rest of my life.

So, this is what I'm needing from you. I am needing a list of summer activities that I should do this year. You can e-mail me at jane.ds.tv@gmail.com. Something sort of along the lines of this:

  1. Ride every ride at the closest theme park
  2. Hang upside down from monkey bars in at least 5 different playgrounds
  3. Pass out water to joggers in a park
Basically something like that. I'll start out with those. What I'll do to prove that they were done is take pictures and at the end of the summer, and make a slide show of them all.

Lists need to be in by Friday, July 4, 2008 at midnight so a panel of judges and I can go through them and choose which ones can be done. A final list will be revealed Monday, July 7th, 2008.

Start sending lists today! Just make the subject "Rox0rz Summer 2008". If you think of anything else to add, don't be afraid to shoot another email!

Can't wait to see what I'm going to do!

Sleep-In of the CENTURY!!!

(no caps plz.)

I slept in till 11:00am today and this is the most I've slept in since I started opening for Starbucks! I feel more the same than I used to when I woke up at 3am!

So, the day is kind of cloudy and not sunny at all. I wish it was a beautiful day so I could just go out and sing to the world how late I slept in. I think everyone would enjoy that.

I started Vlogging! Y'all should really check me out. This is my latest one that I uploaded last night/this morning.

Dennis and I sang a duet 2 nights ago. It was the most fun I've had since Christmas. Check that out on my YouTube homepage. We had a blast learning "Lucky" by Jason Mraz ,so when we finally performed it, it felt great!

That pretty much sums up what I had to say.

Hurry up and stop by my JTV page!!

The Car from Hell.

I think I drove a demon car for the past 4 days while my car was being fixed. Here's a list of it's awesome features that came with it.
  1. Weak battery (it went dead 3x)
  2. Damaged circuit board for locks/windows (it locked randomly and sometimes the windows would roll down randomly or not roll up or down when I needed it to)
  3. Window controls also let off smoke
  4. Radio display went out
  5. Key/ignition problems (key got stuck in the ignition for about a day)
Hey, at least it was free. I guess I got what my money paid for. At least my car looks awesome.

Check out this sponsor. It's for a great cause.

34 more days until my cousin's wedding! I have 34 more days to tone up my body so I can look gooooooood in the bridesmaid dress! Here's a pic of what it looks like.

Pretty much, I'm excited I get to be a part of it. I'm so happy for my cousin and I really hope things turn out good for this marriage.

School's almost out for summer. I'm kind of so-so about it though. I really don't like studying, but I never have anything to do when school is out. I guess I'll just work more. Maybe I'll start up teaching piano lessons again. That might be good for me.

I need a larger bookshelf! I recently realized that my recent bookshelf is not sufficient for my growing number of books! There needs to be some changes in my room in order for me to get a tall one. I've got to get this room-cleaning thing done!

Fetal Pig Disection

We finished our fetal pig disection today in biology lab. I took the heart out of it to examine it and my two lab partners (should they be called partners if there were 3 of us? Hm...) squirmed so much trying not to throw up. It was pretty hilarious. Anyway, it was pretty interesting looking inside of a mammal and seeing all the organs and systems that are inside of our bodies as well.

I still don't want to be a doctor, mom and dad. Don't get too excited.

Well, the test in my biology lecture class didn't go as well as I thought it did. I still just barely passed with a 72, which seems to be my norm in lecture. In lab, I do really well and pass all the quizzes with a 90, usually. So, for the final, I'll really have to study up.

Oh, here's something good-but-also-really-sucks. My 4th wisdom tooth is finally coming in. It hurts. Okay, maybe it just really sucks. I can't think of anything good out of it.

Big shoutout to Sheldon. He chipped in and donated some money so I could go buy some clothes, something I haven't done in a while. I just wanted to say I appreciate what he did for me! Everyone give him a "/me high fives Sheldon" if you see him in my chat!

Schoolio.

I'm actually blogging from somewhere besides home! Heh.

So, I took a bowling test, which was basically just scoring and recap sheets, and I think I did pretty well on it. I also took a biology test, my 3rd, I believe, and I think I also did well on that. I think I studied more this time which made a lot of the questions seem easier. Hopefully I did get most of the answers right. I'd hate to fail biology.

Well, at work I now have an accountability partner. I'm trying to tone my stomach down for my cousin's wedding in May so I'm trying to eat healthier and work out. Matt's been telling me what and what not to eat and he's going to give me a list of exercises to help me work out. I'm really hoping I can actually follow them. He's trying to get me to join a gym down here too because Starbucks partners get a discount. I'm thinking about it....

Bobby gave me some pretty good advice. He knows I used to write poetry and that I love to sing. He told me I should try writing songs so Sunday I started one. It's really hard because I'm also trying to write music to it as well. I probably shouldn't do both at the same time but for some reason, it makes it more challenging and makes me want to keep at it. I'm much better with challenging projects if they don't have anything to do with school. That's one of the reasons my room is actually getting cleaner. Soon, I'm going to try and reorganize my room and furniture placement so I can keep it cleaner longer. I think my new viewers will be happy for that.

My manager told me that I've stepped up the bar since I've started working for Starbucks. This is a huge acheivement for me, even if she is required to give these kinds of pep talks. My last job was all work and no appreciation, which is one of the reasons I quit. I worked my butt off for 11 hours each day and my old manager would just schedule me longer and get onto me for little mistakes. Starbucks is a fun environment, just like I thought it'd be and I enjoy it so much. It's somewhere I can go to just hang in my free time or when I need to study/relax.

School's almost out for summer! I'm really looking forward to not having to work on homework or study for tests. Then again, I get so lazy at home and I enjoy leaving the house and being productive. I'll need to find some kind of summer hobby.

Well, I'd better head off to Algebra. Just wanted to stop by and give updates!

My Day.

Today has been a terrible day but I refuse to write about it. Instead I will write about all the good things that have happened.

My CafePress site is awesome! I have a great team working on the design and logos for it. It seems to be doing a lot better than it used to. Everyone needs to check it out often.

Today my biology class got to dissect fetal pigs. At first, I was adverse to the idea but once we got started, it was actually pretty interesting. The two girls in my group squealed when we started cutting into the underside of the pig but I thought it was actually pretty cool.

My PayPal debit card finally came in. Now I have direct access to the account. I'm so happy.

Work is going great. We just got started on a whole bunch of new benefits and changes to our daily routines. We're brewing Pike Peak Roast every day and let me tell you, it is sooo good. If you are a black coffee drinker, you need to try it. Just stop into your local Starbucks and they'll let you taste it for free. Trust me, its so sweet and nutty...
Anyway, other things changing are that Starbucks gift card users actually have benefits now. You get free syrups in your drinks and if you wanted soy milk, it comes free too. There's more information here.
Oh and I'm thinking about becoming a Coffee Master. It will take a lot of research and training but I think I'm up for it once I get certified as a barista.

I seem to be bowling better at my local bowling alley. I bowl around an average of 130 at home and about 100 at school. Both lanes are different in oils and oil patterns so thats one of the reasons I bowl so differently. Also, I bowl at night at home and early in the morning at school. Either way, I seem to be doing a lot better. It's pretty awesome.

I think I'm going to do homework now.

Singing?

I need a new hobby. I love sitting around doing nothing but I need something productive to do that will help me in the future.

I'm thinking about maybe somehow getting into entertainment at the same time working towards my degree in computer technology/graphic design. A lot of people say I have a nice voice. If that is the case, I'd like to somehow use it to my advantage and at least try and raise money to help pay off this car.

I'm just going to sing more, no matter what any of the people on my chat say. I'm just going to try and get a name for myself!

Car "Accidents" and Such.

Oh "accidents". They're a part of almost everyone's lives. Learning to live up to the accident makes you better off than when the incident occurred. The opposite leads to worse outcomes.

If you didn't know already, my car got hit in the parking lot last night. I was sleeping inside of it, waiting for my sister to get done with her surgery, and I hear something hit my car. I immediately look up from the drivers seat to see the lady on the passenger's side getting into her car, not even really acknowledging what I had done. I don't even know if she knew I was in the car at the time. Well, I get up and look straight at her and she realizes I saw her so she pauses before she closes her door and mouths, "Sorry," to me then closes her door and starts to back out.

I'm still pretty groggy from just waking up that I try to get out of my car fast and look at the damage. I open my drivers door then walk around the front of my car to look at the passengers side. By this time, she's already backed out and getting ready to go. I see this.

Crap. I thought to myself. This is my brand new car! She was actually still pullling back and I waved at her to stop. Frustrated, she put her car into park and glared at me as I walked up to her window.
"There's a mark where your truck hit my car."
"No, I just hit your window...no, I mean, your mirror. There's nothing there," she replied.
"Yes, there is paint on the actual door itself from your truck's door." I felt like a parent calmly talking to a toddler, trying to tell them what they did wrong. I was still too groggy to be angry.
"Well, thats nothing. You can just wipe it off with a towel when you get home--"
I cut her off. "No, there is a pretty significant mark--"
She cut me off. "You can just wipe it off when you get home!" and then quickly put her car into drive and drove off.

Not fast enough though because I got her license plate numbers.

So, today I'm going to file a police report. I should have done this yesterday but I really had no idea. When my dad came home, he called the insurance company and they talked him through things to do and where to go to get an estimate to fix the scratch and paint.

I'm still really upset to what happened, but I'm glad that I have so many resources to help me through these times. Twitter actually helped me by telling me when I sent the message saying that she hit me so I can tell the police station about what time it was.

So, thanks everyone for your support, even though I didn't get hurt and my car had barely any damage. I appreciate it.

Daft Punk

Woo! I learned the Daft Punk "Harder Better Faster Stronger" hand jive today! I saw it on YouTube and I wanted to do it too so I did! I just have to practice it more before I can put it on my YouTube page. :)

So, I said I was going to blog earlier about these things but I never got around to actually doing it.

  1. Daylight Savings time confused the heck out of me. Saturday I was going to a Scavenger hunt with the College group from my church and we were going to meet at one of the leader's house at 5pm. Well, before I was going to leave, I decided to download some old DOS games I used to play as a child: Secret Agent, Jill of the Jungle, and Crystal Caves. When I got them downloaded (which only took about 15 seconds, seriously.) I decided to play one until I had to leave. I got into about the 4th room in Crystal Caves when I decided to see what time it was on my laptop. I looked down and...5:10pm. I freaked out knowing that I had to meet at the house at 5pm and I was late! I quickly got all my stuff together and started shutting down my computers and called the leader. "I'm SOOO sorry I'm late! I just lost track of time and...I'll be there as soon as I can!" The leader laughed and said that it was okay. I had time and I could leave in 15 minutes if I wanted. Then I got kind of confused and said that I'd rather leave now so I could get there as soon as I could and he said that it was fine. "Wait...what time is it?" "4:15pm," he answered. What the--um....WHAT??! Apparently my clock said it was 5:15pm March 8, 1908 and it thought Daylight Savings had already taken place. Yeah...the dang DOS game did that to my computer while installing it.
  2. Oh also, one of my partners at work told me that he liked me and wanted to hang out more. Last Saturday he asked if I was working this Friday or Saturday and when I told him I wasn't sure he went over to the schedule to check. Then he came back and said, "Don't make any plans for Saturday night. Don't call me, I'll call you," and then walked away. I guess I had a dumbfounded look on my face because I looked up and my manager was standing right there as well with the same look on her face. I shrugged, kind of disturbed he'd tell me to not make plans on one of my only hang out days. So, a couple days pass by and I realize that I really don't know if I led this guy on or not but the fact is that I don't want any relationship with him so I decide to wait until Monday when he works with me to talk to him. I wake up Monday and get to work at 4:30am and he's not there. The manager and I finish getting things ready and an hour passes by and he still hasn't shown up. This is his third time to be late: termination. I feel horrible because I smile when I think about it. I feel extremely horrible for the grin I had on my face. I left before he came in to talk to the manager about it and haven't talked to him since. I'm not sure if I will before Saturday. I really wouldn't mind it if I didn't.
So, there you have it. Blogged.

Ouch.

I got my first Corrective Action Report today.

I set my alarm an hour late last night. It just slipped my mind! I usually set my alarm for an hour before I leave the house and for some reason, I set it for 5:45am instead of 4:45am!

So, I'm not too proud of myself at the moment. I need to think more!!

Blech....

On another note, my wireless connection is pretty awesome. It makes lifecasting (and living) much easier!

Tips rock.

I got my first tip share last night and boy was it rewarding. It was only $19 this week but I don't care. I've never gotten something in addition to my usual paycheck. My last job was just straight $8.50 an hour, no bonuses, 2% raises on your year anniversary, and you could hardly get a promotion (if you did, the job sucked). So, it's really great to have an awesome job and be able to have some cash to spend on the side!

I finally got wireless pretty much installed in my house. I still need to reset my router almost every time I turn my computer on but its not terribly bad. It stays on while I have my computer on.

Oh weird. There was a very loud noise coming from my kitchen. It's 12:55am. I...think I had better...check it out.

Well, I looked and didn't find anything that had fallen or broken. I feel like an idiot though. I actually brought my hole punch in case someone had broken in since it was the heaviest thing around in my room. I walked out of my room and turned my kitchen light on and my dog scared the heck out of me. I think the blood is back in my face now.

Once my wireless is working and good, I'm going to start lifecasting. I know right now I'm on and off lifecasting/talking to viewers, but for a while I'm going to just be broadcasting my life. I do love everyone in my chat but sometimes I just want to just straight lifecast. It will be fun. Just watch. You'll see me do more around my house. I've got a piano in the living room. I've even got 2 turtles that y'all probably don't know about. I'll even go outside every once in a while when it starts getting warmer!

So, stay tuned! Oh and buy my new shirt. I think all lifecasters should have one.

Woo! First Paychecks!

I got my first paychecks today. One for about $36 and the other for about $196. Awesome awesome. Money is good for bills. I'm glad I can finally pay them now and maybe I'll have something left over!

So, closing today at work really wasn't that bad. It was stormy outside and for some reason, on a Friday evening, there were not very many coffee drinkers.

I got to work more on the espresso bar and make drinks for customers. The biggest thing I'm having trouble with is pouring the steamed milk. I keep pouring it with my left hand when I know that pouring it with my right would be SO much easier. I just keep doing it wrong though. I know I'll get the hang of it. It will just take time. I just wish I could be caught up!

Ok. Headache time = Bed time. Man, it sure is pouring outside. I love it!

ABC's (and D's of course.)

Wow! I wanted 1 Valentine. I got 4! :) Of course I'm not saying each man is not special, because each of them ARE. They are awesome people that I am so glad I met.

Here are the guys: (I realized the pattern last night. Couldn't stop laughing.)
Arnaud
Bobby
Chris
Dennis

Arnaud, you are so smart and kind with your show. I hope it thrives and becomes even more wonderful than it is.
Bobby, you have done so much for me in the past couple months. I pray it is all returned to you...times 4!
Chris, you rock. I've known you since we were tiny. :) Just to see you all grown up, its so weird! I hope you do great at school and in whatever you want to do.
Dennis, you know how much I adore you. You've been an awesome friend since I've known you and I wish you luck in your future!

But yes, this Valentine's day wasn't actually that bad. I went to my classes and biology lab today. I actually got a phone number from a guy in my algebra class. It was odd, but sweet. I guess...? I was sleeping on a bench in the hallway waiting for my next class to start. He comes up to me, wakes me up, and says, "You should hit me up sometime," and hands me a piece of paper with his number on it. I seriously would have never known he was in my class if he hadn't came up to me earlier to ask how I did on my algebra test. It was nice of him. Made my day.

Oh and I worked too. Work work work. Coffee coffee coffee.
I worked mostly at the register but I also got to work at the espresso bar, finally. I really need to learn those drinks. I'm getting better at frappuchinos too.
But anyway, we had a lot of Valentine's couples come in and even some last minute shoppers before their dates. I made many Strawberries and Cream frappuchinos.
Oh and Matt had a guy yell at him today through the drive-thru window because he asked to see ID since the face on the debit card was a white woman and the man driving the car was an African American man. This is pretty much what the guy said.
"I come through here everyday and no one asks me to see any ID because of this card! Give it back to me. I'm never coming back here again!"

Oooh. Hot temper. I'm glad Matt didn't turn around with 2 black eyes after that.

But, back to Valentine's day.
Uh...yeah. I think that's it. Goodnight.

twitbin.

I have a confession to make. I feel silly saying it this way but I think it is the only way for me to express how I feel.

I am in love with Mozilla Firefox + addons.

I'm being TOTALLY serious on this one. Ever since I was introduced to it by one of my good friends, Kyle, I have been using and abusing it non-stop. (Okay, by "abusing", I mean it in the most positive way possible. I promise I don't smack my beloved computer around. Not for Firefox's sake anyway.)

I know me and Firefox have had some hard times ever since I started justin.tv, but I can't blame it! I've also broadcasted from Internet Explorer and AT&T's browser, coincidentally called AT&T Yahoo! (Logo consisting of a picture of the AT&T symbol next to the Yahoo! symbol. It's pretty clever, let me tell you.) All three of them have had crashing issues when it came to broadcasting via JTV, so I shouldn't be so angry at Firefox for dying every once in a while. It just gets so frustrating!

So, thank you for accepting me for who I am, Mr. Mozilla Firefox, for I know that I do the same for you everyday. You rock, dude.

Current Add-on's:
  • AdBlock Plus (the blocker of the ads)
  • Firesomething (turns "Firefox" in my title bar into something wonderful. It changes "fire" to another element or place, and "fox" into another animal. Currently it is Mozilla Junglehamster) [1]
  • FoxyTunes (puts my iTunes controls in the status bar at the bottom of the window) [2]
  • Full Screen Homestar Runner (makes Homestar Runner cartoons the size of the window you are watching it in) [3]
  • Tab Effect (makes switching tabs on Firefox fun! It looks like each page is a side on a cube and switching to another tab looks like turning the cube)
  • TalkBack (sends messages when Firefox is about to crash)
  • TwitBin (puts Twitter in my sidebar so I can keep up with my friends and update whenever! I just LOVVVVE this feature.) [4]
  • Weatherbug (gives me weather whenever I want it! It keeps a temperature gauge right next to my menu bar.)[5]
  • You can also customize your theme. Right now mine is set to a 300-theme with the deep reds and Spartan icons. [6]

Birthday ChipIn

Okay, I'm going to post all the ChipIn's I make up here for a blog post every once in a while. This one is just a way for y'all to say "Happy birthday". Of course, I'm not asking for $50 or anything. Just a dollar or two would rock!

I just want to thank everyone who has supported me through these hard times I've been going through. I don't know if I could have made it without y'all!

Maybe I should just settle down and get married.

We just got a letter of rejection from the government saying that our income is "too high" for us to get the $3000 credit toward my car so we might not get it. My dad will have to file again for it. If he doesn't get it, though, my car payments will sky rocket. I'll have to pay even more for the next 6 years. All my dad had to say was, "If I don't get it, you will need to tighten your budget even more."

So, yeah. Money. I freaking hate money. How the heck will I raise it?
  1. More hours at Starbucks.
  2. Take on a piano lesson student again.
  3. Never eat out or buy groceries.
  4. Sell my DVD's.
  5. Sell books I don't read to Half Priced Books.
  6. Garage sale.
  7. ChipIn?
  8. Tax return.
  9. Get married.
But even the last one costs so much money so that's out of the question.

Or maybe I should really look into this internet business idea I have. That would raise money.

Okay. I'm getting started on this "selling stuff" thing.

Birthday

I have to say, February 3rd was pretty awesome! So were the days preceding and following it! I think this year was my best birthday I've had so far.

I never actually "celebrated" my birthday out with friends. I did go out to eat a couple times but it was mainly hanging out and...Oh! Coincidentally, my birthday happened to fall on the same day! It was pretty awesome though.

The waiter at Chili's was pretty comical. He looked exactly like Ferris Bueller's best friend, Cameron. He had the sense of humor of a pickled radish, but it was still a funny situation. It all started after our meal when he was asking if we were interested in desserts. I turned to my friend next to me and said, "Oh man! I should have told him it was my birthday!" Then the whole table lightened up remembering why we went there and excitedly informed him that it was my birthday. All the guy said was, "Good one," then walked off.

When he came back and took the dessert orders and I just quietly sat in my place. He finally returned and gave us our checks. I signed my receipt after he swiped the cards and wrote at the bottom, "I'm sad you didn't believe it was my birthday. Have a better night." Then I gave it to him.

Oh the surprise and embarrassment that showed on his face while he was reading it. It was priceless.

"Oh..my...go--Is it seriously your birthday?!"
"Yes"
"No...It's really your birthday??"
"Yeah, it is."
"No way."
"Do you want to see an ID?"
"No! No, its fine. My gosh, I feel like a [jet or current of water, sometimes with a dissolved medicating or cleansing agent, applied to a body part, organ, or cavity for medicinal or hygienic purposes]."

:)

Yay.

Haha I found a "misc" forum online. Pretty interesting what those kids have to say.

I also found where they talked about me. There's even a pic! Haha. It just seems some people just don't have a life.

(Heh...as I write a pointless blog at 12:28am.)

I must be a REAL lifecaster now, eh?

Yesterday was...interesting. You know, reflections are a silly thing. I should probably pay attention to the angle my laptop is sitting at when I'm undressing.

It's quite comical though. I mean, don't get me wrong. I deleted those archives of "nekkid jane bewbs" so you can save that bleach you were about to pour in your eyes for something like laundry. Hehe. I'm so clever.

Oh. Hear this. Remember that date I had with Patrick from lifedoc? Well, back when we were trying to find the Galleria, we took a toll road but never saw the toll booths to pay. Then we took an exit and got off the road and thought we just didn't have to worry about it. Well, turns out that you have to have a tag to drive on that road and it's under video surveillance. Got my first traffic ticket in the mail today for not having a toll tag on my Hyundai. Obviously, I didn't have a sticker! I didn't know where I was going! I was following Patrick's directions!

So, now I must cough up $1.60 to the government. Interesting...

What a funny day. A funny, funny day.

Sunday

I simply must stop spending money at restaurants. I paid $9 for Awesome Blossom at Chili's just now and I barely ate any of it. Why do I do this to myself? I have no money!!

Today is Sunday. It was a...regular Sunday actually.

I think I'm going to iron some clothes and do some "room work" since I'm don't want to do "house work".

I need some company. The only way I can clean is if I know someone is coming over soon. Hm...

1st day at Starbucks

Wow. Let me just say, wow. Today was...a day.

Literally, though. Most of the 5 hours I spent filling out paper work and meeting my partners. It was pretty fun though. The people are extremely nice and helpful. I opened many packets and read over booklets and did coffee tastings. Mmm...if you ever get a chance to, and a barista offers, do a coffee tasting! Coffee out of the french press is awesome, especially if its the French roast. Mmm... I'm jealous Dennis has a french press. I don't have any money at the moment to buy one.

So, we tried coffee, obviously, and we also took a tour around the shop, learned to make the drinks we wanted. I tried a Passion Lemonade Iced Tea for the first time today and it was real good. I suggest it. One of my partners, Austin, said it's also good as green tea. That guy is pretty funny. I think him and I are on the same level of humor/sarcasm, but we'll have to see. Haha.

I'm excited! This next week is going to be chock full of more training and exercises! I haven't been able to get my free bag of coffee but I think that can wait. I'm not in any hurry at the moment.

Here's a fact. I found out that after you grind a bag of coffee, it's only good for 7 days after that, according to Starbucks standards. That was pretty interesting. I wonder if it's the same for Folgers and other ground beans.

Oh the lady I'm training with is actually from Mexico and this is her first job. It was interesting hearing all the questions she had about the company and how people did their jobs. She asked a whole bunch of questions I didn't think to ask but I gained some knowledge after knowing the answer. It was interesting. I'm glad I'm training with her.

I got my aprons today.
:)
They're so cool.

My day at Starbucks was pretty cool, even when I sat around waiting for my manager to come back to the table to check out our workbooks. I sat there for about 20 minutes just watching customers and baristas. It was pretty pleasant. I wonder what Monday's going to bring.

*sigh...* I've never looked forward to a Monday work day like I'm doing right now.

Viewers...

This is for any viewers who saw me today while my dad was lecturing me about who-knows-what.

It's ok. I've heard that same lecture at least twice. Dad doesn't like me locking my door and asking who it is when people knock. He says I act like I'm above them when I do that.

So basically I'm just frustrated. I've been sick for days and have taken a break from broadcasting in order to recooperate. Today was actually going to be another break but I decided to broadcast for a bit. Dad comes in here saying I never spend time with the family...only after spending about 3 hours with him just about an hour or so earlier.

I'm exhausted. Why doesn't 21 get here faster? And why don't I have a larger paycheck so I can buy a house? I think I'm gonna buy another lottery ticket.

Official Quittin Time.

As you can tell, 2008 has been a very interesting year so far. I think it's been changing for the better as well.

Number One Change:
The office job is out the door!! Today was my last day and, let me tell you, it was great to finally get out. I felt bad leaving all the good people behind but leaving my manager was...priceless. I told her off a couple times today too.

Angie: "Hey, don't we have some inquiries to answer? +30 day service orders to handle?"
Me: "No."

Heh...I don't know why but that tickled me. Another one was this.

Angie: "You know, you should stay. I can work with your school schedule. We're getting 2 trained workers over in our area Monday so that will help with hours."
Me: (laughing) "That's funny. Sorry, I'd have to decline."

Man, she cracks me up how much she cares when people leave because of her actions. While I'm there, she could care less about how stressed I am. I seriously think she was listening in on my phone conversations with techs telling them why I'm moving on. Nosy...nosy...nosy. Haha.

Number Two Change:
New car! Oh yeah. It's awesome. I got $3000 credit toward the purchase of a new car for crushing my Elantra and "saving the planet". It's some cleanTXair something or another that Al Gore or someone is trying to push. Hey, if I get a new car, I'm all in. Anyway, I got a Kia Spectra and it is nice. Compared to my Hyundai, it is a Lexus. Compared to a Lexus, it's my Hyundai... But really, it's nice. I can drive down the highway without having to worry about stopping all of a sudden and getting smashed by the car behind me. This thing has working windshield wipers and an mp3 player hookup! It even has a CD player! I'm telling you this car is seriously, not to use the term loosely, "teh rox0rz" and it will be mine forever.
Or...until the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty expires.

Now, I'm in for one more change that might not even happen if I keep playing with my feelings like I do, but that's something I'm not ready to discuss on here.

Okay! I'm ready for Starbucks now.

Car

Soooo...the car is dying and it's quite annoying.

The biggest things happening with it are:

1. Cannot put my car into reverse (causing parking spots to be a little difficult to find unless I can neutralize my car and back up on a slope.)

2. The acceleration keeps dropping out on the roads (which becomes a pest to drivers behind me. I'll be going 65 on the highway and then all of a sudden I start getting slower and slower and slower...until it pops back into place.)

3. Windshield wiper fluid container is broken (due to an accident I got into. It will hold half a tank before it starts leaking.)

4. Transmission is out (I probably should have said this earlier. This is the reason #1 and #2 are happening.)

5. It's covered in bird crap (which makes #3 ten times worse.)

I think it's time for a new car anyway. If I pay to fix the transmission, I'll have paid more for the repair than the cost of the car itself! I paid $800 for it back in February of 2006 and its almost February 2008. I'd like a new car. My mom's thinking a Kia Rio? I guess my family is addicted to Korean cars. My mom drove a Kia a while back and my current car is the Hyundai Elantra. I wonder why??

So, tomorrow I'm going car hunting with my parents instead of dress hunting with my cousin for her wedding. Fun fun! I'll keep up with my Twitter.

Oh yeah, this pic was taken right after the accident I got into. It now has a black fender and bumper cover. One of my tech calls it the "Panda Car".

It's quittin' time

If you haven't heard already, I quit my office job! You don't understand how thrilled I am to get out of it! Starbucks is now my official employer!

Last night was so much fun. My manager is fun (so far...I said that with my current boss at the beginning and look how that turned out. Hopefully that's not the case this time!) and very helpful. I drank A LOT of coffee and I got to meet 3 of my "partners". They are so cool too!

So, yes. I think I am going to have a good time at this job. I'm a very social person and my office job really left no room for fun.

Anyway, I'm out!

Lotto Texas!

Yes! I went today to go buy my first lotto ticket. My fortune cookie read "Your courage will guide your future" and it had some nifty lotto numbers on the back so I figured, Heck. Might as well.

So me and my buddy drive to the Valero corner store and walk inside to try and find the lottery thing. You know, that red thing that people are always at in commercials, filling out their numbers and stuff? We don't find one. I look around and realize its all at the counter so we go up there.

The man asks me, "Can I help you, ma'am?"
I don't know what to say. Uh... "I'd like a lottery ticket," and I look down at the little lotto ticket holder on the counter.
"Sure, which one?"
"Uh..." I don't know what it's called!! "A...regular one?" I kind of stand their staring at him blankly.
I think he finally realized what I was talking about because he said, "The lottery is already done for the day."
"Oh."
Another blank stare as I'm standing there looking ridiculous carrying a piece of paper with my so-called 'lucky numbers' on it.
"Would you like another ticket?"
Quickly I say, "Sure. Anything."
"Okay, do you want one for Tuesday? Wednesday? Maybe a scratch-off?"
"Sure. Um...yeah."
He cocks his head. "Which one would yo--"
"Anything. Just anything would be cool." I quickly interrupt him. I feel enough of a dork to be standing there with the whole store looking at me.
"Oh. okay. Um..." He punches some numbers into his little machine thing and then hands me the ticket. "That'll be--mmmmbmbrrm."
Now this was my turn to blankly stare at him. "How much??!"
He gives me 'the look'. "One dollar, ma'am."

So yes. Another awesome experience of this year! My first lottery ticket.

I get in the car afterwards and my buddy congratulates me for going through with it. Then I ask, "Um...how do I know if I win?"
After much argument and the turning on and off of the dome light in his car to read the back of the ticket, we finally agree that we have no idea.

And here I am, reading up on the internet to find out how to win. I found out that he gave me the ticket for Tuesday's lottery. I guess I read the newspaper or look somehow online? I think I'll just check on www.txlottery.org to see if I won. I mean, heck. $19,600,000 doesn't sound bad for $1. I could buy a new car and new computers with that. I could BUY education! Sweet. Let's see how this goes!

Oh my gosh. 2007 is gone forever.

Wow! I cannot believe that its already 2008. The kids of 1990 are now 18 years old and, personally, that kind of freaks me out.

So, the events of the new year haven't been horrible. I went bowling for the first time this year last night. Played 2 games and didn't win either. The only thing that bothered me last night was the bathrooms. Okay, yes, it IS a bowling alley bathroom and of course it's not the world's best-kept bathroom of the year. It wasn't the appearance of the bathroom that highly disturbed me. It was the lack of, can I say, "coverage"?

So I got into the bathroom with my best friend's daughter. There were 2 stalls so naturally we each take 1 stall. As I'm getting ready to do my duty, I see through the crack of the door, a mother and daughter walk into the bathroom.

The daughter, being about 3 or 4 years old, has a temper tantrum about something. Not sure what it was. Probably something about her mother finally telling her that the tooth fairy wasn't real and the tax collector lives under her bed or something. Anyway, she pulls away from her mom and stands right at the wall in front of my stall.
It takes a while but she finally finds me.
Inside of my stall.
Sitting on the toilet.

Okay, what do I do?? A 3-year old is staring at me through the crack of my door! I know she's probably seen lady parts before. She was just born just a couple years back so it's probably bringing back memories, but, GOSH! Mind your own business kid! I'm just trying to get back to the lane!

And the kid never looks away. She just stares at me.

I sit there for a while contemplating what I should do. Maybe yell, "Fire!" I tried talking to my friends daughter to see if the attention of that little girl would drift from me to the other stall but it didn't. Nope. Nothing. She stares at me. I finally think, "You know, she's 3. Shove it." and stand up and move closer to the door so at least she's out of my vision. Then I finish, zip my pants back up, flush the toilet, pull the door open, wash my hands and leave. I was glad to be out of that place and back on the lane.

Then my friend looks at me and says, "Where's my daughter?"

Yeah...she was still in the stall humming to herself or dancing in the stall.

So anyway, that was alot of information about me and my disturbing experience of 2008. There will probably be more to come.
